German-language edition of an account by a fellow US serviceman of Elvis's military service in Germany. Has some rarely seen photos, both black and white and colour. Interesting read.

Original US edition (first published, February 1960, and already at the third printing in March 1960!). Excellent, if all too brief, contemporary account, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, of Elvis's induction and time in the US army. Dust-jacket carries amusing colour cartoon by Dedini, who also provides numerous b/w cartoons throughout the book. One of the few contemporary books about Elvis, and more accurate than most. A must for the collector!

This is the UK edition of the title. How did Uncle Sam get Elvis into the army? Includes a brief piece on UK pop idol, Terry Dene, whose own national service stint was far less successful. Some amusing cartoons for the time!

Fair and honest account of Elvis's two "missing" years as a US soldier. Rex Mansfield was inducted on the same day as Elvis, became a friend and spent most of his free time with Elvis, even accompanying him on his visit to Paris. Elisabeth Mansfield was Elisabeth Stefaniak, Elvis's secretary during his stay in Germany. Sometimes amusing, sometimes disturbing, almost always interesting. A useful addition.

Beautifully produced book, giving information about the few visits that Elvis made to the German town of Munich during his army service and especially about his "relationship" with actress Vera Tschechowa. Excellently illustrated in black-and-white and colour, including numerous previously unpublished photos (and, for a change in the world of Elvis books, that's a claim that stands up!). Also shows contemporary press cuttings. Very good indeed.
