I became a fan of Elvis Presley when I was about 9 years old, growing up in the gloominess of the then still coal-dusted Rhondda Valley in the south of Wales. I saw his film, "Loving You," and fell in love with the red and white cowboy outfit he wore during part of it. Hundreds of records, CDs, books, fan meetings, and hours of pleasure later, I still enjoy listening to the man, though the whole business around him has now become too commercialised to interest me any more—Mr Potato Head Elvis, my foot!
