Oradour-sur-Glane

My wife and I visited Oradour-sur-Glane on a miserable day in May 2013, when driving back to Spain from Belgium.

That the day was miserable was only appropriate for a visit to a place of  such sad memories.

On 10 June, 1944, 642 men, women and children were massacred at Oradour-sur-Glane by an SS Panzer unit. After the massacre, the unit burnt the village.

The village was not rebuilt after the War, but kept as it was found, as a testament to the tragedy.
